Cross Road Christian Church Youth

If you think that McKinney students just goof off during Spring Break, please think again.  A dozen youngsters and four adult chaperones spent their time off helping a single senior woman.  Members of Cross Road Christian Church contacted Community Lifeline Center with a desire to reach out.  And CLC knew just who could use that help.

The CLC client has arthritis which, in addition to some aging issues, make some chores difficult, if not impossible, for her to do herself.  Here’s what the youngsters did:Cross Road Christian Church

  • Laid a base of bricks for her trash can to sit on
  • Divided iris bulbs and replanted them closer to her house
  • Insulated and added drywall to her enclosed garage
  • Cleaned her windows.

CLC staff reports that the client is very grateful for the work done by the youth group and sponsors.  She was especially impressed by the 10-year-old who requested permission to wash the windows and got them spotless.  Through Community Lifeline, these church members were enriched by assisting a neighbor, and the homeowner was greatly helped.  This is mission in action!
