MCKINNEY, Texas—May 26, 2016—A new Historic McKinney Farmers Market has opened at Community Lifeline Center in McKinney.  The Heritage Guild of Collin County (Chestnut Square) is partnering with Community Lifeline Center to bring this new market to the community every Tuesday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. The first Farmers Market day on May 24 saw many smiling faces from Community Lifeline Center clients and community members alike. The market will continue every Tuesday through September. Local citizens are encouraged to shop the market, and area employees have the convenience of stopping by during their lunch break.

“We’re so grateful to Chestnut Square for expanding their Historic McKinney Farmers Market to our location,” said Community Lifeline’s Executive Director, Brian Marques. He added, “This is natural partnership, as Community Lifeline Center provides basic necessities to those experiencing hardship in the community, while Chestnut Square takes an active role in delivering locally grown food from farm to table.”

Community Lifeline Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance, food, free education programs, and information and referral services for residents of McKinney and north Collin County. Jaymie Pedigo, Executive Director of the Heritage Guild of Collin County, said, “Brian and I have had several conversations about how to partner to bring fresh food to CLC clients. I anticipate that this is just the beginning. We had more interest from our Farmers Market vendors than we have space for, so I see growth potential already. I believe the community is so excited to see non-profit leaders working together to maximize resources and fulfill collective missions – there is no down side! The Heritage Guild and Farmers Market is thrilled to add the Community Lifeline Market to our calendar – expanding the market now to three locations and days of the week.”
